 WHAT DO WE DO?

The Friends is a voluntary organisation and a registered charity run by parents and carers who work closely with the school staff. The Friends committee is a great way to support the school and meet new people.

The purpose of the group is to provide additional support to the school with a particular focus on fundraising for items not covered by the normal range of funding. It is separate from the staff or governing bodies.

On average, over the last five years, Friends’ initiatives have raised over £10,000pa for the school.

HOW DO WE RAISE FUNDS?

The committee helps to foster our school’s unique sense of community through the organisation of all manner of social events and applying for grants at both a local and national level.

Last year’s events included film screenings, Christmas cards, Fizz & Quiz night, Easter Bunny Hunt, school disco, cake & ice cream sales.

We also supported community initiatives such as the annual Great Chesterford Village Steam Up.

Easyfundraising.com – an easy way to donate as you shop, without it costing you a thing – click on the link below to join and support the school every time you shop at one of hundreds of online retailers: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/greatchesterfordprimacad/

WHAT DO WE SPEND FUNDS ON?

Current priorities include ipads for the classrooms, stage rails and subsidising class trips and school visitors.

Large projects that have been supported include the creation and resourcing of the nature space, resources for the library, play equipment and resurfacing of the playgrounds.

Other spending includes purchasing Year 6 leaving presents and donating to the Year 6 Leaving Party.

JOIN US!

We are always looking for new people to join us; we aim to meet every term and details will be in the school newsletter.

If you would like to come along to a committee meeting, help at an upcoming event, or suggest ways to raise funds, it would be great to hear from you! You can email us at gcpafriends@gmail.com.

The committee is a great way to become involved with school life;. It is a valuable experience which allows you to feel more part of the school community and share something special with your child.
